We’re delighted to introduce Herne Hill Station Hall as the new Hub Venue for this year’s Lambeth Open. Bringing together a vibrant mix of artists and makers under one roof, the Hub offers visitors the perfect place to discover original paintings, prints, photography, ceramics, jewellery, textiles, sculpture and handcrafted work from some of Lambeth’s finest creative talent. Conveniently located in the heart of Herne Hill, just above the station, it’s an ideal starting point for exploring the wider Lambeth Open trail, meeting artists in person and finding unique works to admire or take home.

LUKAS ANGST is a Swiss born Artist and Creative who has been living in Lambeth, South London for over 20years. Detailed line drawing, often in combination with Watercolour are Lukas’s mediums to express his love for London and nature. JENNIKA ARGENT is a London-based artist whose original oil paintings are inspired by her travels. With a background in photography and graphic design, she captures the excitement of exploring new places through scenes experienced while swimming or hiking. Working from sketches and reference photographs, she is drawn to reflections, shadows, intersecting angles and repeating lines, creating compositions that combine a strong sense of place with a distinctive graphic quality. MIKE BATECKO is a Brixton-based intuitive abstract painter whose joy lives in the act of surrender, letting the unconscious lead him into vivid inner worlds full of alien life, primal forces, and unexpected discoveries. KATE BOWE‘s works mainly within the medium of printmaking. Observing textures and the boundaries between objects she produces series of works that experiment with the assemblage of mixed media images in a planar form. GABRIELLE BRADSHAW went to Camberwell School of Art leaving with a First Class Honours degree in Fine Art Sculpture. She honed her blacksmithing skills at the Rural Development Centre Salisbury and worked for a year in the Metalshop of the National Theatre. Gabrielle has exhibited her drawings, paintings and metal sculptures in galleries in Paris, Berlin and all over the UK. Her workshop/studio is in Honor Oak South London. CLAIRE BRENNAN is a multi disciplinary artist originally from Ireland who has been living in London for many years. Since completing a degree in Fine Art she has explored a great many disciplines. Photography was an early interest however and most recently she has been gathering quite painterly underwater images of swimmers at Tooting Bec Lido where she enjoys swimming throughout the year. KUAN-LING CHEN creates small-batch, functional ceramics that celebrate the beauty of everyday rituals. Each piece is thoughtfully handmade, reflecting on the mindfulness of the ceramics practice. Using the potter’s wheel, she works with a variety of clay bodies, embracing the natural textures and colours of the materials in each piece. Inspired by a recent visit home to New Zealand, the latest collection of wheel-thrown tableware explores tactile forms, firing techniques, and the colour palette of the South Pacific. CODY CHOI is a contemporary photographer and choreographer renowned for striking figurative portraits of dancers. Born in Hong Kong and a former professional dancer, he brings a unique understanding of movement to his work. His photography has been funded by Arts Council England, commissioned by the Royal Opera House and Greenwich Dance, and exhibited internationally. Cody trained at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and later performed with Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, the English National Opera and the Royal National Theatre. KEVIN DUFF Painting primarily with his fingers Kevin’s approach is improvisational. Exploring the nature of the materials and trusting his relationship with them, in order to discover the identity of each piece. MARTIN GROVER is a painter and screen printer, whose studio is in West Norwood. He produces enigmatic and melancholic images inspired by novels, anecdotal evidence, apocryphal stories alongside more whimsical pieces that focus on procrastination, old records and Brockwell Park. TABBY HARRIS is a ceramic artist making decorative and functional pieces. Growing up in London she takes inspiration from the rich patterns and textures of the city. Her work focuses on contrast and colour, exposing muddy red clays and bright patterns, rough clay with smooth matt or gloss glazes. TOMOKO HORI‘s hand crafted objects are a small glimpse into the wonderful imaginary world that only exists inside her head. Tomoko’s work is unique, carefully hand crafted and each piece tells its own story. RAYMOND ISAAC uses the technique of collage to look at the urban landscape and the interaction between different elements of the landscape. For this work he uses flyers, posters and images from magazines and by using different pictorial element in the collage he conveys an elective message representing the urban experience. STEVE OWEN studied Fine Art Painting at Wimbledon School of Art before embarking on a career teaching Art. He is now retired and able to indulge his passion for Painting and Printmaking. MORGANE PAIRAIN is a Carshalton-based contemporary painter. She paints abstract and semi-abstract landscapes, people and still-life in bold colours, exploring the effect of colours and materiality on moods and feelings. Her latest series of ‘Faceless People’ explores the theme of voyeurism. By withholding the face, the paintings strip away identity and expression, the usual anchor we use to read another person. LOUISE PHILLIPS is an artist working in water-based media such as watercolour, gouache, acrylics and water-based oils as well as drawing media including pastels and pencil. HELEN PLYTONIC‘s work deconstructs iconic architecture into simplified forms. Using intricately cut plywood layers, that are stacked to create deep, textural structures. JULIUS SALLOWS is a hardworking artist who is always exploring new techniques and materials to develop his unique style. He loves using vibrant colours to bring joy through his paintings, combining acrylic and oil paints to create his distinctive work. RICHARD SENA is a London-based cyanotype artist creating contemporary photographic works that explore architecture, birds in flight and the urban landscape. MAGGIE E SMITH is an artist specialising in botanical portraiture. Working in Sussex she is constantly inspired by the flora of her local area, whether it be the innocuous plants that we pass by each day, never really stopping to properly look at them, the stately garden blooms, or the mysterious flora of the neighbouring countryside; the ferns, mosses and lichen which she is particularly fascinated by. GINA SODEN At the heart of Gina’s photography is a preoccupation with abandoned structures and locations. Based in Reading, she travels widely to undisclosed sites throughout Europe and explores the boundaries of beauty, decay, nostalgia and neglect. The genesis of each piece is often the unique architectural character of each location, heightened by their painfully slow transformation after years of abandonment. TESS STONE  studied Illustration at Camberwell School of Art, now the University of the Arts. Her work has been published both in the UK and the USA.
